Belfast experimentalists Blue Whale unveil math-pop single "Jack Irons" [Premiere]
Experimental Belfast foursome Blue Whale have shared their new single "Jack Irons", and its accompanying visuals.
The mathy, jazz-flecked brew hurtles through a thorny tunnel of riffs and percussive flailing - it should be utter chaos, but Blue Whale make it honeyed. The video, directed by Tom Hughes and starring contemporary dancer Maeve McGreevy, is a stark representation of the music, with McGreevy's jerky, aggressive movements coalescing with softer leaps and flowing arcs.
Blue Whale will play Belfast's Bar Sub with Paddy Hanna and Girl Band tonight (25 September).
