Baby Taylah deploys her dominance on cinematic track "Reclaim"
Scotland's Baby Taylah tightens the reins on her own life on powerful offering "Reclaim".
Commencing with lo-fi, brooding hums, Baby Taylah navigates through a sparse instrumental that sees the ticking beat keep the undercurrent of foreboding synths at bay.
Baby Taylah fuses the dark electronica with her distorted, breathy vocals, which flicker relentlessly between angelic and ominous tones.
The Scottish singer/songwriter's new single is cinematic, drawing the listener in with the seductive subtlety of the verses before exploding with harsh brass instrumentals and rippling synths to deliver Baby Taylah's statement of intent.
"Reclaim" is a tale of Baby Taylah taking control of her life, as she explains, "I wrote "Reclaim" at a time when I felt very out of control and trapped. I had a conversation with my sister in which I said that I wasn’t prepared to become a victim of my personal circumstance, and this inspired the lyrics behind "Reclaim". I loved the idea of being the ruler of your own life, and anyone who tries to dethrone you will have hell to pay. I really wanted some strong brass in the chorus to make it sound aggressive. I think it was the right track to release first because it really explains the way I felt coming back to music again."
