
August Landelius' "Kiss Me" is a delicately warped take on Sixpence None The Richer's original
Swedish producer August Landelius has given Sixpence None The Richer's "Kiss Me" a tender and trippy makeover.
The woozy synths are a gentle introduction as August Landelius sinks beneath the water with his submerged vocals, projecting a bubbling keys melody and pulses of warped effects that sound like a romance-fuelled, underwater date.
Although it sounds pretty minimal on the surface, the intricate layers of electronica surge to a euphoric peak of psychedelia, morphing elegantly into a colourful closing section where Landelius' vocals drift away softly to the rhythm of the oceanic, warping synths.
Offering some words about the new release, Landelius says, "To be honest; I was just humming that track one night when I was in the dutch countryside with my girlfriend. She said "you should make a cover of that" and I didn't really have anything else to do so I did it and it turned out nice I think. I did really like it as a kid also."
"Kiss Me" will feature on Landelius' forthcoming debut record Goldilocks Zone, which also features earlier offerings "Now" and "All You Can Eat".
