Art School Girlfriend paints a viscously captivating soundscape in "Bending Back"

11 September 2017, 12:59 | Written by Erin Bashford

Hauntingly ethereal new track from Art School Girlfriend "Bending Back" is as catchy as it is dark.

The newest signing to Paul Epworth’s Wolf Tone label (The Horrors, Glass Animals), Art School Girlfriend’s heavy alt. pop is viscous and captivating.

"Bending Back" is the first single from Measures EP, a body of work that flits around the idea of falling in love and taking control. The track effortlessly reflects the reality of Art School Girlfriend’s life; the calm and reverie catalysed by living in Margate, next to the sea, to the tension and electricity of being in a sea storm and being exposed to nature’s torments.

The collage of Art School Girlfriend’s life presented in Measures reflects her namesake perfectly - she has painted herself a glossy soundscape, with nothing left uncared for. Art School Girlfriend writes, produces, and performs every song on the EP herself.

"Bending Back" is out 29 September via Wolf Tone.
