Watch the video for 'Rocket Love' the Frank-Ocean penned Angel track [Best Fit Premiere]
Bringing some of the magic that made Channel Orange one of our favourite records of last year, Frank Ocean has hooked up with rising UK R&B talent Angel on a new track.
‘Rocket Love’ – which features as the bonus track on Angel’s debut album About Time – was penned by the Odd Future member and shows yet again that he’s as adept a songwriter as a performer. Angel and Ocean met last year, and immediately took to the studio to collaborate. ” It’s a big deal to me having him write on my debut album,” Angel says.
Flourishes of Ocean’s phrasing are clear throughout but the West London-born singer, who broke the top ten last summer with ‘Wonderful’, delivers Ocean’s lyric with lush understatement and a canny vocal candour. The song was first previewed on Ocean’s mixtape The Lonny Breaux Collection.
About Time is released on Monday (15 April) and you can watch the video for ‘Rocket Love’ below, premiering today on Best Fit, which sees Angel walk through some of his favourite spots in his home town, London’s Shepherds Bush.
