Barbados-born Amelia Payne debuts with the hypnotic “Down”
Laced with R&B stylings, “Down” is newcomer Amelia Payne’s weapon of choice for breaking into the world of pop.
Born in Barbados, and since resident in Miami and London, Payne’s crisp, mature debut is a result of an enviable cross-cultural musical education that saw her cut her first track at only 13. Now, at 19, she’s working up to the release of her first EP, delivering “Down” as the buzz-worthy first taste.
With ambitious production flanking an immaculate vocal, “Down” delivers pop catchiness in a mature and confident package. Payne’s authentic Caribbean roots set her debut apart from the manufactured dancehall-lite of her peers, whilst delivering something that will tick every box for any fan of current popular music.
