The last time I wrote about Benjamin Shaw, I noted that he seemed a bit down.
Despite the apparent positivity of the title of his debut album (who doesn’t like cabernet?), you’ll be pleased to hear that the nine songs contained here are as gloriously downbeat, as gloriously lo-fi, and as gloriously funny as his previous outings. It’s less than two and half minutes before he encourages suicide. Happy Friday.
There’s Always Hope, There’s Always Cabernet is out on Monday on Audio Antihero. Benjamin Shaw plays the Miller in London Bridge on Friday 25 November, as part of the label’s second birthday celebrations.
