Aaron Taos longs for the wild life in "Simple & Sober" [Premiere]
Daydreaming of a life without a white picket fence, Aaron Taos mourns the antics of an bygone age in a deliciously woozy fashion.
With refrains as hazy and intoxicating as the song's central character, "Simple & Sober" steadily meanders and swirls its way through loneliness and debauchery of days gone by. Guitar riffs swim with a weighted intensity, perfectly complimenting vocals that soar with a blissed out optimism that maybe, just maybe, the good old days aren't so far gone after all.
"'Simple & Sober' is, at its core, a bromance song," Aaron says of his inspiration. "It's written from my perspective as a plea to my friend's girlfriend to let me have some quality time with my homie away from her controlling grasp. It's about our polar opposite ideas of how we want this person to behave. Throughout the song, I'm taking some shots at her because I feel her level of control and her expectations are unrealistically high and it's ruining all the goddamn fun, for him and me."
Following "ILL", "Simple & Sober" is the second track to be shared from Aaron Taos' forthcoming self-produced EP. GUITS is released via Clam Club on 19 September.
