Dream-poppers RHEYA announce new EP and drop new single "Franchise"
Normally when you start an article about a new band, you kick off with a little biographical information to give you a sense of the artist, be it name, home city, favourite bus route or whatever. We can't do that with this artist, RHEYA, because we simply know very little about them.
All we know is that they're Swedish (probably), have been making music on the internet since at least 2014, and have this dream-pop thing nailed. Their new single "Franchise" is a blissful piece of music, a hazy cloud of warm synths and guitar flickers.
The effect-laden vocal gives the song a sense of longing, of reaching for something just out of reach. There are a lot of people making this kind of music, so you need to have something a little special to stand out. RHEYA certainly have that.
