Stream Walking On Skin, the debut album from Monument Valley
It’s been a long time coming, but London based Monument Valley - the solo monicker for singer-songwriter Ned Younger - finally releases his debut album Walking On Skin next week.
Streaming a week ahead of release exclusively here at Best Fit, Walking On Skin is a mature and astute debut, filled with autobiographical peans to Younger’s experience living and growing up in London.
This record has been a long time coming, as people who’ve been following Monument Valley for a while will know. It’s been a real privilege making it in my own time and with very little outside pressure, and I think it’s a better record for that independence and patience. In a lot of ways it’s emerged over that time as a record about London, which is where I grew up, live now, and where all the songs are set in one way or another. At the same time, I hope this record speaks to a bigger theme: trying to find your place in whatever environment, and making the most of a life. I’m proud of it, and I hope people enjoy it.
Monument Valley celebrates the release of Walking On Skin with a show at London’s Courtyard Theatre on June 10. Support comes from lo-fi Swedish chanteuse Alice Boman.
