Stream Company, the debut from London's The Drink
Having premiered “Mircosleep”, the lead single from London’s The Drink debut long player, we at Best Fit are pleased to now premiere the stream of said LP, Company, exclusively below.
If you’re thinking vocalist Dearbhla Minogue’s distinctive, sprightly falsetto sounds at all familiar, perhaps you’re recalling The Wharves’ At Bay, Minogue’s other band’s debut LP released just a few weeks back.
Similarities are obvious, most notably Minogue’s vocals, but while she and her Wharves band mates drew in some folk-rock guitar melodicism to leaven their previously sludgier sound, The Drink’s debut is soaked and dripping through with her nimble fretwork alongside her equally spry rhythm section. Fortunately, Minogue delivers the same offbeat charm here in spades as well, the ease of which is down to the band's inherent knack for idiosyncracy:
“We don't set out to write odd songs at all. We just write them as we think they sound interesting and they always turn out to be in bizarre time patterns when it comes to putting them together.”
Catch the band at a pair of upcoming London dates, the album launch show 6 December at New River Studios and 12 December The Victoria, Dalston. Company is released 1 December courtesy of Melodic Records and can be pre-ordered at the label site or the band’s Bandcamp.
