This OOFJ duo just keeps it coming. The Los Angeles based synthpop pairing of Danish instrumentalist Jens Bjornkaer and South African vocalist Katharine Mills-Rymer has added yet another impressive jewel to their string of delectable singles with “Cliffdive”.
Never ones to skimp on the cinematics, “Cliffdive” is a turn inward, however, compared to previous singles from their upcoming LP, Acute Feast. Backed by nary more than a low humming synth, Mills-Rymer’s lithe, reverb-laden vocal acrobatics evoke the track’s namesake expertly as she seems suspended in mid-air.
Naturally, it wouldn’t be an OOFJ song if the drama didn’t seep in at times, as string swells envelop Mills-Rymer intermittently, adding an air of tension and ensuring she doesn’t simply float off into the ether. As its fourth winning track offering, OOFJ’s new abum is looking to be quite the corker.
