“My favourite song of 2008 was recorded by a friend of mine, Freschard. She doesn’t have a record label right now, but you can hear her on Myspace of course. The song is very beautiful. It is a sad song, but at the same time one that makes you feel less alone. The vocal is high in the mix, which I like, so that it feels like the singer is speaking directly to you. It has three chords in it: G, A-minor and C. The change from G to A-minor is sad, while the change to C is uplifting. Those three chords roll around and around. If I was hearing this song for the first time on the radio, I would stop what I was doing and listen, and I would be moved by it. It is emotional, simple and very real.”

The Wave Pictures are a London-based band made up of David Tattersall, Franic Rozycki and Jonny Helm. Their album Instant Coffee Baby is out now on Moshi Moshi and was nominated for TLOBF Album of the Year 2008.
