The Japanese House Polaroids Lead JW 1

Polaroids with The Japanese House

11 November 2016, 09:00

As Amber Bain aka The Japanese House gets ready to release her third EP, Swim Against The Tide, we go all analogue for some Impossible Polaroids before her headline sell out Heaven show.

The Japanese House's Swim Against The Tide EP is out now via Dirty Hit, following Bain's Pools To Bathe In and Clean short-players.

We've been looking forward to the EP for some time, its recent track "Good Side In" in particular a stellar offering, with gentle acoustics and distorted electronics melting together in a beautifully bittersweet nugget of pop bliss.

Previous track "Face Like Thunder" is an inspired mixture of Bon Iver-y vocoders and despondent drawls - front and centre, with frothy '80s guitars and synth chirruping away underneath. It's a weighty gut-punch of emotion and melody, with wiry strands of noise darting in and out of earshot like sonic dragonflies.

After playing the headline sell-out Heaven show in London, Bain is set for dates in Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna and Brussels, before heading stateside for appearances in Boston, Brooklyn, Washington, Philadelphia, Toronto and Seattle in November, and Vancouver, San Francisco, San Diego and LA in December, rounding off 2016 on support duties for the 1975's UK tour.

BW 2.0 Impossible Project 600 type film by Impossible and shot on Polaroid 600 series by Jason Williamson.
