Nicki Minaj claims the crown with special guests Stylo G and Yxng Bane, Live in London

Following the cancellation of a recent French gig, Nicki Minaj’s British Barbz eagerly awaited the return of one of hip hop’s most provocative voices. Collaborating with Chicagoan rapper Juice Wrld, Minaj brought The Nicki Wrld Tour to The O2. Freshly squeezed.

Set against vape-like visuals, Juice Wrld coursed through a 30 minute high energy set. Paying tribute to fallen stars such as XXXTentacion and Mac Miller, Juice Wrld was poised and political. Finishing with breakout hit “Lucid Dreams”, we were left wanting more.

There’s a moment of calm before the storm as Nicki Minaj serenely rides out on a larger than life unicorn. Launching in to Queen cut “Majesty”, we are taken through a whirlwind tour of her extended back catalogue. Including lesser known hits from Pink Friday and the Roman Reloaded era, tracks like “Beez In The Trap” bangs while “Feeling Myself” - with added Beyonce visuals - sends the crowd in to a frenzy.

Cementing the clear cut, choreographed opening with a costume change, DJ BOOF on the decks rises to centre stage. Nicki Minaj has decided it’s time for a pop quiz: "This is a test. If you can sing this back, I swear I'm calling this the last stop on my tour". Feeling that we’re faithful, Minaj raced through a mixtape medley before rewarding us with a wealth of special guests. Stylo G, Lisa Mercedes, Ms Banks and Yxng Bane all graced the stage to perform “Yu Zimme”. Finishing with Kanye collaboration “Monster”, we’re through with the mashups and on to the hits.

With 20,000 people crammed in to The O2 Minaj, for her final act, rattled through break-neck-speed renditions of all the crowd favourites. “Starships” is euphoric, “Moment 4 Life” is magnificent and “Super Bass” is phenomenal. Clad as a PVC super hero, Nicki Minaj is the hero we need and deserve.

Minaj continues the Nicki Wrld Tour with dates scheduled around the UK, Ireland and Germany.
