Behind the scenes at BBC Radio 1's Residency Live at Maida Vale
Radio 1’s Residency – the strand that brings listeners the biggest names in dance music, from the underground to the arena – are broadcasting a special night of programming featuring some of the most exciting dance artists around in specially captured performances.
You can tune in to Radio 1 this Thursday (5 June) to hear the likes of Martyn with Inga Copeland, Throwing Snow, Mount Kimbie with Jonwayne, MachineDrum, Alix Perez, Klangkarussell, Blue Daisy, Tessela and Truss (together as TR\\ER) perform exclusive session tracks.
“Doing 4 months as a Radio 1 Resident DJ was great,” explains Residency DJ and producer Tessela. “Having total freedom on a station as big as that was unexpected and it was wicked to be able to showcase music from some of the most exciting people around.
“Also, having a jam in the Maida Vale Studios with my brother was amazing.”
To find out more about what goes on behind the scenes, we sent photographer Angela Stephenson along to the legendary Maida Vale Studios to capture some of the bands in action - check out the gallery below.
The music will be split across two shows - from 9-10pm and midnight-2am - on Thursday, 5 June. All peformances will also be available on the Radio 1 YouTube channel following the broadcasts.
