All Apologies: Protomartyr

08 August 2018, 11:20

Joe Casey from Detroit's Protomartyr tells us the state of his head ahead of the band's appearance at this year's End of the Road Festival.

What's your present state of mind and being?

Scattered. Trying to get ready for a tour while not getting straight answers about financial matters. I guess it wouldn't be the music biz if people didn't clam up when you ask about money.

What's the most overrated virtue?

Looking through the different lists of virtues, I gotta go with being salubrious.

What one thing have you learnt from your parents?

How to be kind.

What the most desirable quality you look for in romantic partner?

Big old ears.

What and where was the greatest meal you ever ate?

Beef Bourguignon in a White Castle parking lot

What's your most treasured possession?

All the junk I own is precious.

What was the last dream you had about?

Something to do with body horror. It's always body horror.

What's the biggest lie on your Wikipedia page?

It says we started as a band in 2008. That's when I met the fellas. We didn't start this foolishness until 2010.

If you could say something to your 15-year-old self, what would it be?

Go outside, loser.

You’re playing at End of the Road this year, our favourite festival in the UK. Which other artist playing the festival would you absolutely love to collaborate with?

We've toured with Shame. Nice boys. I suppose doing something with them would give us some clout with the youths. Besides that, maybe Richard Dawson?

And finally, who would you most like to apologise to and why?

You, for not taking this questionnaire seriously.

Protomartyr plays at End of the Road Festival on 31 August.
