Boys warms up for the release of her debut album with the delicate honesty of "Hemtjänsten"

In case you're wondering, "Hemtjänsten" is the Swedish word for "home care" and with Boys' latest song, it reflects the need to be nurtured, to find a place to call home and conjures up a sense of fragility and vulnerability.

Boys is the moniker for Swedish artist Nora Karlsson, an artist who has gone on something of an artistic journey over the past five years, experiencing the highs and lows of being a creative person. After a bout of writer's block, she fought through it and is about to release what promises to be a special debut album that reflects her experiences of life, death and the hardships and highs that come in between, whether that be rubbish jobs or falling in and out of love.

With "Hemtjänsten" we get a glimpse at the tenderness and the honesty that Karlsson has chosen to share with the world on this album which is entitled Rest In Peace. Produced alongside Hannes Ferm from HOLY, this is Boys' first set of studio recordings and marks a huge leap forward.

"Hemtjänsten" may start out as a stripped-back affair, where Karlsson's floating vocals simmer alongside jangling guitars, but then there's this guttural crashing of thunderous drums and guitar that smashes in and breaks through, like a cathartic explosion of frustration. It's euphoric, but still retains a measure of honesty and regret and is a wholly immersive and atmospheric listen.

Rest In Peace will be released on 11 May via PNKSLM Recordings and is available to pre-order now.
