LOOP's new single "As If" is a massive fuck you in pop form
London-based singer-songwriter LOOP shares "As If", the title track from her debut EP due next month.
LOOP is one of the UK's most exciting pop hopes and new single "As If" cements her place as she mixes another catchy pop hook over a '90s-inspired beat. "As If" is playful pop leaning left-of-centre as it meanders through synth-led crescendos and throwback dub rhythms.
"It's essentially a song that says 'F U' to the view that men are the only ones who are 'allowed to' have/enjoy casual flings," LOOP explains. "It's saying 'don't go worrying about covering your tracks to spare my feelings, 'cause I'm out doing exactly the same thing back to you babe'."
Having established a unique network of producers to work with for the upcoming EP, LOOP's sound is still evolving, but this longer form project should give her some space to showcase what she's been building.
