With just over a month to go before the release of their third album Slow Focus, London based electronic duo Fuck Buttons today reveal the official video for recent single ‘The Red Wing’.

The single will be released on limited edition gold 12″ on 25 June, before the album drops on 22 July via ATP Recordings.

We were first introduced to eccentric multi-instrumentalist, Cosmo Sheldrake, through his earthy-as-it-gets pigsty performance video for ‘Rich’. This time around young Cosmo takes a wander down the South Coast to Hastings to film visuals for latest drop, ‘The Fly’ with the crew of fishing vessel, RX89.

The end result is splendid but we can guarantee it was a technological and logistical pain in the backside for director, Ruben Woodin Dechamps. Attending to an array of Midi controllers, samplers and his trusty Mac – shielded from the foam by nothing more than a scrap of tarpaulin – Cosmo sets to work spitting those familiar scrambled, pitch-shifted lines from William Blake’s poem, as his fishermen friends haul in basket after basket of squirming cuttlefish.

Few music videos capture the essence of the song better than this wonderfully salty accompaniment to our favourite shanty of 2013.

Cosmo plays his last show in London until September at The Lexington on 25 June supporting The Melodic.

Filmed in Nashville during the recording of their fourth studio album The Weight Of Your Love, Editors have revealed the stunning new video for lead track ‘The Weight’.

Directed by James Lockey, brother of guitarist Justin, the black and white footage perfectly suits the quietly brooding atmosphere of the songs: It’s menacing cyclic rhythms, intricate percussion layers and heaving strings cut through with Tom Smiths stark vocals.

‘The Weight’ also features on the digital download of the band’s forthcoming single ‘A Ton Of Love’ which is released on 17 June. The band play London’s Village Underground on 1 July to celebrate the release of The Weight Of Your Love via PIAS.

Documenting the kind of steamy affair that often occurs when the barrier separating artist and muse disintegrates – a cigarette-puffing cameraman and a stunning model in this case – the video remains tactful and tender, in spite of the notoriously seedy themes. Aided by softly kissed pianos and a chugging guitar line, drawn open to reveal shuddering bass oscillations and spiky hi-hat flicks; Choi’s rich falsetto – although smooth and sensual – retains a sense of glacial detachment, swept along on the intoxicating RnB melody.

Montreal duo Blue Hawaii return with a dream-like video for new track ‘Reaction II’, taken from their album Untogether.

Mysterious, verging on uncomfortable, the Melissa Matos-directed video follows a yellow jacket donning female figure moving through muted concrete landscapes. The weird aesthetic reflects the trippy vocals of Raphaelle Standell-Preston, who, when she isn’t working with musical compatriot, Agor Cowan as Blue Hawaii, can also be found fronting the band Braids.

London’s graceful-pop hopeful WALL matches the subtle melancholy of her latest track with an ambiguous and touching new video.

The stand-out number from her sophomore Shoestring EP highlights the whispering quality of Lyla Foy’s vocal, alongside a real knack for crafting a gently catching chorus that has become staple since her debut ‘Magazine’ captivated so many all those months ago. London four-piece Arthur Beatrice  will release the Carter EP on 22 July. The record’s title-cut surfaced via Pitchfork last week and now they return with some wonderful grayscale accompanying visuals.

A Wild Beasts evoking strut led by pounding pianos and rumbling floor toms, ‘Carter (Cut)’ bounds along like a baroque floor-filler. The visuals on the other hand – tagged ‘Carter (Uncut)’ to accommodate the extended piano intro – speak to the song’s more personal touches. The bare flesh captured through Kate Moross’ solemn, monochrome lens echoing vocalist Ella Girardot’s tempestuous lyricism and deep, earthy caw.

Proof that it’s still possible to craft soaring indie rock without sounding overly earnest and pompous, Embers spring to life in majestic form in this, their new video for the euphoric ‘Part Of The Echoes’.

Premiering here at Best Fit, the cinematic clip acts as the perfect accompaniment for the track. The first official release from the Manchester band, ‘Part Of The Echoes’ stands tall against Embers’ contemporaries and hints at a very bright future indeed.

Laura Welsh, the latest addition to the UK’s ever-increasing line of soulful songstresses, has unveiled a dark and gently haunting video for her latest piece of seductive pop.

Simple, monochrome visuals perfectly match the typically sultry sound, thanks in-part to production aid from Rhye’s Robin Hannibal, while moments of shadow puppet intervention add an unsettling dimension to the action.

Having worked with Dev Hynes and the aforementioned Hannibal, she is to continue these high profile production exploits, teaming-up with with Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Kanye West, The Neighbourhood) for her debut album; a record that is shaping-up to be something quite special.

Glasgow’s rising producer Sega Bodega unveils a visual accompaniment for his cinematic single, ‘Samson’.

That late night surreal feeling, when the club lights flood your vision, and for an instant, everything is just right; through his five track EP 34, Sega Bodega has managed to capture that excitement in digital form.

Introspective nights spent wallowing in your own thoughts come to life through a sea of soft muted lights and pronounced piano keys on Salvador Navarrete’s delicately crafted electronic sonnet, ‘Samson’. Pensive moments in the form of delicate clicks skip through the night as flashes of iridescent light wash away the darkness.

Mysterious Japanese avant-pop talent Illion is the nom-de-plume of  Yojiro Noda.

Also vocalist and guitarist with guitar band Radwimps – who sold three million records – Noda’s solo project retains the bombast and flourishes of hard rock but leans more towards a minimal cerebralism.

Lifted from the album Son Be Wise, ‘Barricades’ is the new single from lo-fi folk pop troupe Ralfe Band.

Featuring guest vocals from Alessi Laurent-Marke (of Alessi’s Ark), the track boasts an accompanying video directed by a certain Julian Barrett alongside Oliver Ralfe.

Ralfe Band will play London’s White Heat Club tomorrow night (Tuesday 4 June) with support from Left With Pictures. Tickets are available here.

The title-track from TEEN‘s forthcoming Carolina EP now has some oddball visuals to match the kraut-influenced chug and swirl of the song. 

The video follows performance artist, who also directed the clip, Megha Barnabas on a jaunt around New York’s iconic landmarks doling out flowers to passers-by and frolicking in the crisp sunlight. You love bonkers green screen videos complete with blood-soaked walls, acid-trip skull masks and plenty of vamp-on-vamp action, right? Well adjust your display to wide-screen and get comfortable for the next two minutes because Spring King are back and somehow more wickedly funny and infectious than ever before.

‘V-V-V-Vampire’ takes all the reverb-pasted guitar parts and shunted cymbals of their previous work and shakes them up v-v-v-violently with a healthy dollop of frontman Tarek Musa’s demented wail and some frizzy, freaky tempo changes.  Rarely has a scuzzy garage-pop melody found such a beautifully warped, perfectly matched visual aid.

Those of you of a nervous disposition should probably look away now. Oh you pressed play already? Never mind.

Electronic brothers Octa Push offer up a heady infusion of dance genres with a new track that culminates in one heady, addictive mix.

With a helping-hand from Alex Klimovitsky of fellow-garagers Youthless, the Lisbon siblings adopt a thick helix of sounds: an intuitive beat, relentless glockenspiel line and genuinely catching chorus melody helps the song to sit somewhere between Peter Gabriel and those good bits of Delphic.

Get a bit lost in the hypnotic visuals for ‘Françoise Hardy’ below – it’s as watchable as its name-sake. 

Melbourne producer Mark Zito aka Fractures, aired his latest dreamy single, ‘Twisted’ a few months back. After ascending The Hype Machine chart at a rapid rate and piquing interest in his native Oz; Fractures returns again today with news of a debut EP –  set for release this summer – as well as these emotionally intense visuals for ‘Twisted’. 

Composed of softly repeating guitar, padding beats and aqueous bass ripples – all crowned by his hauntingly delicate murmurs – ‘Twisted’ is the kind of pristine, down-tempo experimental slither James Blake  might weave in his witching hour dreams. Those fragile little sonic quirks tie-in nicely with actress Danielle Baynes’ expressive, heavy-hearted performance in the leading role.

Glasgow three-piece, Sparrow and the Workshop, aired the second single from the Murderopolis LP last month. Powered by a stomping, brazen guitar riff and Jill O’Sullivan’s searching vine-like vocals, ’The Faster You Spin’ is as stylish and sinewy as alt-rock off cuts come. 

The accompanying visuals are decidedly more sleazy: documenting the antics of a gaggle of call girls – or rather some middle aged men dressed up and donning politicians masks – as they spend a night fighting, flicking the V’s at one another and failing to secure any business in the process. The best bits? SNP’s Alex Salmond being chastised into leaving by the coalition is trumped onky by Bush and Blair arriving to double bitch-slap Vince Cable to the floor. Sublimely silly.

‘The Faster You Spin’ and Murderopolis are both set for release on 27 May via Scottish indie Song, By Toad Records.

David Bowie, Is Tropical et al have already proven this year that the art of a good music video isn’t dead. Also up there with them, busy ploughing away at resurrecting the long-lost medium, are London fourpiece Wolf Alice.

But instead of angering Catholic groups or depicting French teenagers masturbating over video game characters like the others, Wolf Alice show that their secret for thoroughly watchable video treatments is the simple mantra of “Seem to have fun yourself, and viewers will likewise follow suit”.

Lo and behold, that’s what happened when the band were let loose in front of a green screen – producing this Apple ad-esque clip for new single ‘Bros’.

Lo-fi, green screen action provides suitably heart-warming visuals to match Wolf Alice‘s tale of nostalgic tale of friendship.

Rapidly rising singer Indiana displays opposing forces of fragility and strength in her new single ‘Smoking Gun’ which will be released on 1 June.

The gentle, innocence of her vocal tones, crafted in between minimalist production flashes, is belied by an underlying intensity and vindictive subject matter.

Indiana takes on the role of femme fatal to great effect, which is brought into focus visually with the dark and ever so slightly unhinged video accompanying it.

The Nottingham based artist has recently announced her inaugural live dates where she will be joined by a full live band.

That unmistakable kick of riot grrrl rock is prominent on ‘Work For The City’, the first single from Brooklyn’s JAN.

Taken from her self-titled debut, the single to be released by Enclaves, feels like it’s cut straight from the heart of America’s Pacific Northwest.

Having been produced by John Goodmanson (of Gossip and Sleater-Kinney acclaim), the track comes with an exclusive b-side remixed by Kentucky’s own Dawn Landes.

With over two and a half million streams (and counting) of current single ‘This Head I Hold’ over on YouTube, Electric Guest today reveal a brand new music video for the track.

Filmed on location in a small town in the Kostroma region of Russia, the video shows the town’s dancers giving a unique performance to the track, which was actually discovered by one of the teenagers in the troupe who had somehow found the track online and downloaded it despite the slow dial-up internet in their village.

Produced by Danger Mouse, ‘This Hand I Hold’ is released on May 27 via Warner Bros.

Mariah Carey and Miguel rummage through a bag of R&B music video cliches and pull out ‘inexplicable motorcycle ride’, ‘lingering shots of random female body parts’, ‘vintage cars that nobody’s allowed to drive’ and ‘lens flares that are meant to represent the sun and/or summer’.

They put them all together and give us the video to their recent (and quite brilliant) new collaborative single ‘#Beautiful’. And, you know what, we still think the video’s pretty great nonetheless.

We were genuinely taken aback by the startling depth of young Londoner Freddie Dickson‘s debut track ‘Shut Us Down’ last month. A surefooted march through melodramatic realms stewarded so commandingly by Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey of late; the track announced Dickson as the dark horse of British pop-noir this year.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter surfaced once more this week with the stirring video for ‘Shut Us Down’. The Charlotte Rutherford-directed clip projects sepia-edged family film onto the faces of Dickson and his cherubic female co-star. His despondent sighs of, ‘Is your love still strong enough?’ sounding more purposeful than ever before, hovering over the pensive beats and poignant visuals.

Dickson will release his debut EP later this month and performs live with a full band at Ginglik London tomorrow night.

Riding a wave of praise generated from their brace of 2012 singles – released on DIY labels Almost Musique and SWAYS Records – Manchester outfit MONEY have now  been gobbled up by Simon Raymonde, becoming the latest addition to his Bella Union stable. 

Their haunting, reverb-smeared sound has been polished up on album teaser ‘Bluebell Fields’ but that’s not to say their idiosyncratic romanticized voice is on the path to losing any of its authority. Perhaps not as cryptic, or bleak as their previous releases; what ‘Bluebell Fields’ lacks in echoing atmospherics, it more than makes up for with breathlessly beautiful guitar progressions, lilting vocal hooks and shuffling percussion.

Paired with Fun Adults man, Dan W. Jacobs’ esoteric, part-illustrated visuals, it’s a cleaner but no less impassioned composition from the Mancunian cabal.

The National jam out in a tiny room with a little kid in a suit in their video for ‘Sea of Love’, the latest track taken from their new album Trouble Will Find Me.

That’s pretty much the most accurate description of any given music video ever. Really.

Going on the visual evidence presented in ‘Pleased’, Joe Flory – despite going under the pseudonym of Amateur Best – isn’t one for unnecessary self decoration.

Though surrounded by all sorts of human oddities (such as co-stars Cardboard Box Woman and Strange Bulbous Clothing Woman), Parry himself croons a wistful electro-pop love tale dressed like he’s walked in off the street, or rather, is still on the street; he spends most of his time sipping a coffee and trying to control a dog rather than paying attention to any of the ensuing peculiarity.

Come the end, Flory stands in what may as well have become a nightmarish nightclub, uncomfortable with the company but right at home with his music.  It’s a look that suits him.

The video depicts an alcohol and drug fueled trip where party goers slip in and out of reality to see streaming rainbow colours and demon animal heads lurk in a smoked out night club. This is all before being submerged beneath water.

Experimental and thought-provoking, Rangleklods emerge from the Berlin underground into the playful light of day with intelligent new track.

With entirely suitable ‘Control’, wonderfully glitching monochrome visuals accompany the layers of manufactured sounds alongside a pair of intuitive vocals from the Danish duo.

Hypnotic synth lines are married with the obsessive pictures and deliberate movements to create an entirely moreish journey.

Its title, ‘Sweet Warm Dance’, just about sums up this new one from Laki Mera, which utilises a gorgeous vocal over the top of careful combinations of electronic sounds.

The ambiguous video that accompanies the track is as intriguing as the Glaswegians’ use of rhythm and the successful pairing of manufactured refrains alongside picking guitar and gently catching melody throughout.

Producing ambient electronica stripped-backed to its bones, Ryan Vail‘s ‘Fade’ is awash with carefully crafted analogue noise, while the accompanying visuals bring the dark subtext to life.  

Glitching, manufactured rhythms, warm piano and a heart-beating kick-drum play out underneath a vocal melody that, itself, fades away to a breath as it utters the words.

Although there is an undercurrent of concern, it is the track’s video that darkens the mood as we follow a disconcerting snapshot into the difficult life of very obvious outsider. Fade away for a moment with this new one from the Derry-based producer.

Tennessee twosome brotherun tapped into our adoration of low-key electronic pop earlier this month with their debut drop ‘Wishful Thinking’.  The Tillery siblings return today, bringing with them an appropriately minimalist accompanying video for the peacefully meandering track.

Set against a starry backdrop, the kaleidoscopic visuals bring to life the muffled kick drum thumps, sprawling harmonies and spidery guitar twirls of the melody through reflective symmetry. Bathed in flickering monochrome, the mirrored shots resemble the inky photographs passed between patient and psychotherapist; adding an extra layer of intrigue to the already pensive and dreamy nature of the piece.

South London two-piece Elephant  have gone from strength to strength in 2013. New single ‘Skyscraper’ oozes a confidence built on self-consciousness, a delicacy born of fragility; the duo appear to have cast off the shackles of their stormy past once and for all, unleashing bags of personality in the process. Their rejuvenation continues with this beautifully shot video for ‘Skyscraper’.

Focusing attention on ice-cool lead vocalist Amelia Rivas  delivering her candied verses; the David Richardson directed clip is also cut with flickering candlelight and lightly wafting curtains which echo the dreamy, vaguely calypso guitar motif and choppy bass ripples of the track. The pretty, desaturated film represents another purposeful step toward their full-length debut on Memphis Industries and we can hardly contain our excitement.

Norwegian pop behemoth and Best Fit favourite Annie makes her long awaited return today with a brand new song and video which preceeds a new EP, produced by long-term collaborator Richard X.

‘Tube Stops and Lonely Hearts’ is released this coming Wednesday and, according to Annie is “inspired by the rave scene in Bergen”.

This is the first release from Annie since 2009′s classic (but shamefully overlooked) album Don’t Stop and was initially hinted as having a March release in a recent interview with Norwegian publication Bergen Puls. The star has supposedly been working on new material since 2010 but until today, has failed to deliver anything but rumours and anticipation.

However, the wait is finally over and the results are unsurprisingly exhilerating. All hail! The (real) Queen of Pop is back.
