Under the Indians moniker, Danish musical prodigy Søren Løkke Juul made one of this year’s most arresting debut records. Something Else showcased a raw talent with the potential for even greater things to come.
We first heard ‘Magic Kids’ early last year, ahead of the release of Something Else, and the song continues to resonate hauntingly, hinged on the knife edge line “I want to see your eyes, but your eyes do not see any more”. It’s beautifully melancholic and terrifyingly sad.
A new video for the track taps into that same ambiguously downbeat space while skirting a heart-stopping otherworldliness.
“It’s the first thing I wrote as Indians and is a very special song for me”, explains Juul . “ about loss, hope and frustration, I think these emotions and feelings were captured really well by the guys.” Fellow Dane Rumpistol has also offered up a respectful reworking of the track which is available as a free download.
