ILL FIT, The Line Of Best Fit’s bastard club night off-spring is back for 2011 after taking January off to recoup and refocus. This month we’re back with a bang with a pair of acts that are at completely different ends of the spectrum. Just the way we like it.
Perhaps a tad reminiscent of Slowdive, the wonderful London trio Blue On Blue will open proceedings with their own gratuitous take on the current shoegaze revival. They’ve been on the London circuit for a fair while now and we’ve had our eye on them for just as long. Fresh from recording a couple of songs with The Charlatans front-man Tim Burgess behind the desk, they finally make their ILL FIT debut. We couldn’t be happier.
Dimbleby & Capper is the alias of south London singer, producer and remixer Laura Bettinson. Backed by a group of black clad, white mask wearing musicians (what’s not to love?), the live show is a percussive, organic sounding experience, and has led to support slots with the likes of Local Natives, Chewlips, Casio Kids and Hockey. Championed by Huw Stephens of Radio 1, expect Dimbleby & Capper to deliver a weighty pop experience – in spades.
The ILL FIT DJs are taking a night off. In their place is the magnificent Kamilla Hannibal, founder of Danish indie label Good Tape Records (home to the damn fine Bodebrixen, amongst others). Kamilla has just moved to London so we thought it’d be nice to welcome her with a big fat ILL FIT hug. Expect Scandi-pop of the highest order served up Danish style.
Kicks off at 19:30, rolls on ’till 12am with free entry all night long.
