If word is to be believed, California resident Alex Jacob only started to flex his songwriting muscles last November. That in itself is not all that impressive, but the speed at which the subsequent MPfrees have travelled through cyberspace suggest this is not just any self-indulgent scrawl penned to aid an aching heart.

Yuck and Porcelain Raft cover each other on new super limited 7″ single
A superb way of capping off a super successful year – not only for Yuck and Porcelain Raft – but for the label/blog that discovered both acts. I’m of course talking about Transparent Records who have sneaked this super limited edition 7″ single out just in time for Christmas.

Museum Of Bellas Artes, the Stockholm based pop powerhouse make their inaugural UK appearance tomorrow night at White Heat Club in the heart of London’s Soho. The trio will be performing alongside TLOBF faves Echo Lake, Vondelpark plus a “secret” performance from New York based collective MEN.

Lonely Galaxy and Perfume Genius announce UK tour
Following the much celebrated release of his debut EP1 earlier this year on Transparent, Lonely Galaxy is delighted to announce that he will embark on a series of UK dates as support to Perfume Genius this October.

Art Of Noise // Herzog
What with Yuck and Fanzine acting as my own personal UK consituency currently reigniting my faith in good wholesome guitar music, Herzog complete this imaginary holy trinity by bringing their own brand of college slacker post-scuzz goofball rock to the masses. Grab their 10-track mixtape inside.

SOTD #118 // How To Dress Well: ‘Ecstasy With Jojo’
Make no mistake: this will be the breakthrough song that establishes How To Dress Well as a substantial, consistently ambitious musician.

SOTD #84 // Myles Cooper: ‘Gonna Find Boyfriends Today’
Floating hearts, walking peanuts, talking strawberries – and that’s just the video. Unless Dustin Hoffman gets his shit together soon this bad boy’s going pandemic, and we can’t wait to see the results.

Label Profile #1 // Transparent
The first in a semi-regular feature exploring the most exciting up and coming record labels; we showcase three acts from the ever inspirational Transparent Label.

SOTD #12 // Perfume Genius: ‘Mr Petersen’
I’m not about to declare Perfume Genius (aka one Mike Hadreas) as the new Dylan or anything – but his fragility, wiry frame and vague anonymity reminds me of a young Bobby Zimmerman at the height of his amphetamine fueled early days. Touch him and he’ll snap in half.
