Alison Mosshart has grown comfortable taking over the reigns in what will always mistakenly be thought of as a Jack White side-project, leading these edgy, unpredictable songs with her unbridled vocals and mercurial attitude, leaving no doubt that these turbulent tracks are as much hers as White’s.

It is perhaps telling that the two best songs of the night are covers. The Dead Weather aren’t bad for a side project of a side project, but, on this evidence, it really is time that Jack White got back to the day job.
