The Beets are a hard band to fathom, in the sense that perceived bad traits in other bands are their good points and that they write perfect pop numbers without even appearing to try or even care. This makes Stay Home all the more unfeasible and all the more enjoyable.

TLOBF Introducing // MINKS
MINKS is the project of Sean Kilfoyle and he’s carved out a sound that glorifies the seasons of dwindling daylight and the dreariness that brings with it.

Wild Nothing – Deaf Institute, Manchester 08/11/11
Dream pop is hardly the most boundary breaking of genres, but there’s still a lot to get excited about with Wild Nothing – especially now they seem to be coming to terms with the stresses and strains of being a successful touring act.

Aias – A La Piscina
A Catalan (!) three-piece stake a late claim on the ‘Summer Album of the Year’ award with a record drenched in rudimentary guitar strumming, doo-wop harmonies and Ramones references. Better get that Catalan dictionary out.

Wild Nothing w/ Porcelain Raft – Deaf Institute, Manchester 29/07/10
The transition from hype act to successful mid-level act has been a short one, but it doesn’t take a huge leap of the imagination to see Wild Nothing selling out shows a lot larger than this is the near future.

Wild Nothing announce extensive UK/Europe tour
Jack Tatum brings Wild Nothing’s live show to the UK and Mainland Europe throughout July – August including an eagerly awaited appearance at CAMP Basement in London and a set at the super wonderful Way Out West Festival in Göteborg, Sweden.

Perfume Genius – Hoxton Hall, London 13/07/10
Tonight the inner chamber of an undersized music hall on the seedier end of a historic East End market street at the back end of Hoxton turns out to be a surprisingly fitting stopover for Seattle-born Mike Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius.

Beach Fossils – Bruar Falls, Brooklyn NY 01/07/10
We sent our new Stateside photographer Cory Smith to last weeks home town show at Bruar Falls to catch Captured Tracks quartet Beach Fossils in action.

Wild Nothing – Gemini
However you package it, this is a beautifully produced piece of heart stealing song writing. Will the words work as well when the winter settles in and the sunshine has disappeared? There’s only one-way to find out; listen to this record all year round.
