On Monday, TLOBF wrapped up 2008 with our last ILL FIT night of the year. Adam Donen and the Drought kicked things off with a rowdy performance that included a heartfelt cover of the Dylan classic ‘Desolation Row’ before ex-Boo Radley Martin Carr kept the packed room transfixed with a delicate acoustic set. Then Emil Svanängen, aka Loney Dear, ably backed by members of The Leisure Society and TLOBF’s very own Rich Thane, took the volume down to a whisper, charming a roomful of adoring fans into humming and singing quiet backing harmonies for new songs “Under A Silent Sea” and “Violent”, plus old favourite “The City, The Airport”. Now we’re holding our breath until January 28, in the hopes that his next London date is as magical and mesmerising.
Thanks to Anika, Karin Grahn Wetter and Tania Khoury for the photographs.
