Our resident photographer, Valerio Berdini, rejoiced at the resumed train link between London and Cambridge by visiting the Scala and witnessing the post-rock of Mono and the shoegaze metal of Jesu.

Curiosity…Is there anyone out there who can tell me about the utility and use of the 7th chord on Jesu guitar?

The 7th string do you mean? It’s an extra ‘B’ string. The other six strings are tuned the same and the extra low B gives a harder, heavier sound – used mainly in metal guitar I reckon. I think Ibanez were one of the first guitar companies to make them…

of course I meant the 7th strings, trying to italianize the english, with horrific results! Thanks Rich
