Weezer's Rivers Cuomo writes new college comedy "DeTour" for FOX
Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has a weird and wonderful back-story, but one of the best parts of his Wikipedia page is that he went back to college at the height of his band’s fame.
Now, that part of his life is the focus of a potential new FOX comedy. As the Hollywood Reporter notes, “The network has handed out a hefty put-pilot commitment to single-camera comedy DeTour, inspired by the life of the singer-songwriter”.
DeTour is described as “a coming-of-age story… of a 30-something rock star who, unable to rationalize his success and worried that he may not have the tools to repeat it, walks away from the spotlight at the height of his fame in an effort to rediscover the parts of his life he missed while he was busy becoming a massive success.”
As Cuomo himself writes on Twitter, the project is still in the early stages and might not actually be made into a full series.
