In what will be their first appearance on a London stage in over 3 years, The Concretes are set to play Kings Cross venue The Lexington on December 1 (as well as a handful of regional dates - more on those later).
Opening for the band are two of TLOBF’s current favourite newcomers – London based Porcelain Raft, who released his debut single via boutique label Acéphale earlier this month and ANR, a duo from Miami that we discovered from the darkest depths of the internet back in July before they were eagerly snapped up by Something In Construction Records (UK home to Air France and more recently, The Concretes) a month or so back.
To round off the evening there will be a very special guest on DJ duties alongside Mark Bowen of Wichita Records and indeed, yours truly. There is always a down-side to everything folks.
So what with this being a rather special occasion and all, the promoters behind the event – Bird On The Wire – have kindly given us two pairs of tickets to give away. The lucky winners will also receive – on arrival at the venue – a goodie bag full of stuff. We’re talking signed copies of The Concretes latest (TLOBF Recommended) album WYWH, some badges, maybe a t-shirt, perhaps some more goodness from the Something In Construction archives. Who knows. It will be a feast of treasures though, that’s for sure.
To enter the competition, simply answer the following question.
On The Concretes 2006 album In Colour, the track ‘Your Call’ featured guest vocals from a member of which British group? Was it:
b) The Magic Numbers
c) Fleetwood Mac
Head on over to Bird On The Wire’s Facebook page and write your answer on their wall making sure you include the text “The Line Of Best Fit Concretes Competition”.
