Two forgotten recordings by the one-of-a-kind American composer Arthur Russell have been dug up from his archive and are being re-released.
‘Foxy Pup’ and ‘Some Say’ were produced and mixed by the Iowa musician and recorded/engineered by disco producer Bob Blank. Both records were released on Rough Trade in 1985, receiving less than favourable feedback at the time.
500 hand-stamped vinyl copies of ’Some Say’ are now on Wilde Calm Records featuring a b-side reimagining by Pocketknife. ‘Foxy Pup’ is limited to 300 vinyl copies and is out on French label Hollie Records.
