Morrissey gives health update, apologises for postponed tour
Morrissey has apologised for postponing dates on his South American tour due to food poisoning but assures that his Argentinian and Brazilian shows will go on as planned.
In a post on fansite True To You, the ex-Smiths singer has written that “the humiliation and mortification I feel on a personal level is too mammoth to be measured” in regards to having to postpone his South American tour due to food poisoning that came about because of “a simple restaurant meal of penne pasta and tomato”. He is currently in Los Angeles receiving medical care and his doctors claim he will be well enough in time to play his 28 July show in Buenos Aires.
He describes himself and “security Liam” collapsing “with a deadly and delirious bedridden disease” and that they required five days round the clock care to control the “the corrosively toxic food poisoning”.
He laments the aforementioned cancellations, claiming “I have absolutely no idea where my beloved Chile has gone” and “If my spirits climb down any lower I could never again find the dignity to stand upright.”
Finishing the open letter, Morrissey concludes: “I repeat my very servile apologies to any and all who back-packed their way to Peru. Alas, the dark shadow made the same journey.”
