Mazzy Star talk first album in 17 years in rare interview
With their first album in 17 years coming next month, ambient dream-pop duo Mazzy Star have given a rare interview revealing that while they may not have released anything in a while, they’ve been making sure they haven’t gone rusty.
“We never stopped writing or recording. We just stopped performing and releasing things,” David Roback tells Rolling Stone. “We’re going to be doing more concerts in the future, so we thought it would be exciting to perform some of our unreleased newer songs.”
Of the newer tracks, the guitarist says: “This new album has a lot of different combinations of instruments, acoustic and electric in different combinations we haven’t used so much before.”
The upcoming LP may not be their final album either, the band say. “Some of may appear in our live concerts, some of them we may release later,” Roback reveals.
The record in question, Seasons of Your Day is due 24 September.
