Geoff Barrow, producer, multi-instrumentalist and best known as the dude from Portishead, has announced the release of a new album with a new band.
The band is called Beak> and was formed back in January with Billy Fuller (Fuzz Against Junk) and Matt Williams (Team Brick). Barrow, of course, isn’t exactly known for his quick turn around in producing albums, but to speed things up they set themselves a few rules, such as:
- Use of only one room/studio for recording
- No Overdubs (the recording of additional instruments separately to the mix)
- Written in its entirety in less than two weeks
The self-titled album will be released via Barrows own Invada label on October 19.
Have a listen over on their Myspace page – me likely, low key, lo-fi and brooding. Nice guitar on the ‘Battery Point’ track.
