Disclosure respond to 'faked set' criticism

British production duo du jour Disclosure have met head-on the claims that their set at the Capital FM Summertime Ball was “faked”- that the pair mimed the set while their DJ controllers were unplugged and a backing track played through the soundsystem.

Magnanimous in admitting the charges, brothers Guy and Lawrence Howard took to Facebook group I Love Bass Music to address an apparently accusatory photo (below) of their set-up, captioned “Did Disclosure just pull a David Guetta?”- an allusion to similar, vociferously denied criticisms levelled at the French DJ’s Tomorrowland set last August.

Responding to the post, elder brother Guy was only too happy to draw attention to the incriminating ‘evidence’ that the duo themselves had lain out, pointing to the unplugged leads trailing over their equipment.

He said that they were the reluctant victims of heavy-handed intervention from the event organisers, stating that “Capital FM made us do this show with a backing track playing but allowed the vocalists to sing. They said that they had to trigger the tracks themselves to sync visuals. We pleaded with them for weeks and weeks to let us play fully live or at least let us mix but they just weren’t having it.”

Posting footage of their previously demonstrated abilities in the form of a Radio 1 Live Lounge video, Lawrence garnered support from fans and hasty contrition from the page admins, who claimed that they “didn’t do anything to insinuate that Disclosure are shit or that their act sucks” and that they were merely posting the photo “because it’s a laugh.”

This business is all unlikely to throw the duo off course, as they celebrate their week at the top of the UK album charts with debut Settle- at the expense of Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories, no less.
