In a pop climate where even the biggest of stars engage in cryptic marketing campaigns for new releases, Beyoncé’s rumoured follow-up to 2011′s 4 has been something of a mystery.

While Bey normally takes around three years to release each album, this new record’s reportedly been in the works since 2012. We’ve heard a series of clips, teasers and live cuts but no actual solid finished pieces – apart from ‘Bow Down‘, which dropped on Soundcloud a few months back.

Now, producer Diplo has sparked the rumour flame by suggesting that she’s started work on it all over again from the beginning.

He recently told The Sun: “I just did two songs for her new album, well, I tried. I think she scrapped the record. The record was supposed to be done and they have been hitting me up for brand new ideas. I like to work from scratch, sometimes I get called in to fix records.”

As NME note, Diplo also revealed he’s been working with both Katy Perry and Chris Brown on new material recently.
