People, Hell & Angels premieres twelve previously unreleased studio recordings from the legendary  Jimi Hendrix.

The posthumous record was released earlier this month and many of the tracks included were originally planned for the follow-up to Hendrix’s third and final studio album Electric Ladyland – an album he planned to call First Rays of the New Rising Sun. The album offers a seductive teaser at where Hendrix would have gone next had he lived longer.

Music-streaming service, Deezer have unveiled a series of ‘silent disco’ shows set to take place next week.

The gigs, dubbed the Deezer Bandwagon Tour, will run from 15-18 April in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London, with the artists taking part announced as Little Boots, Dog Is Dead, The Ramona Flowers and Fridge Magnets.

The tour is to celebrate the launch of Deezer’s free, ad-supported service in the UK. Each of the gigs will see fans given Deezer headphones to be able to enjoy the concerts.

The shows will take place at secret locations, but you can win tickets to the Little Boots leg in London via Best Fit.

To celebrate a certain sporting event that a few of you may have heard mentioned recently, Finland’s Siinai have been busily preparing a collection of remixes to soundtrack the event. Over the next few weeks, the group will be unveiling a series of remixed tracks from their album Olympic Games, an instrumental record which looks to the origins of the Olympic Games and the emotions that sport can evoke in people as its main inspiration.

Brooklynites Bear In Heaven released their quite frankly superbly named album I Love You, It’s Cool a few months back in April and unveiled their rather 80s-looking new vid for ‘Sinful Nature’ just a couple of weeks ago. And, you know what, now they’re heading to the UK in just over seven days.

Damon Albarn’s Dr Dee is set to return! No, it’s nothing to do with Jack Dee, nor is it anything to do with Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider. No, it’s better than that. Last year, Blur frontman Damon Albarn and theatre director Rufus Norris debuted their opera, Dr Dee at the Manchester International Festival. Following rave reviews pretty much across the board, the opera is now being resurrected and brought south for a run at the English National Opera.

We’re offering a pair of tickets to the dress rehearsal of the show, which will take place at 2pm on Monday 25 June.

This Friday, the Caught By The River Variety Show will be taking over the Purcell Room at London’s Southbank Centre and throwing a party in celebration of Caught By The River‘s fifth birthday.

The show features a pretty outstanding line-up of writers and musicians, including music from the brilliant Diagrams, Roy Wilkinson reading from Do It For Your Mum, the acclaimed biography of British Sea Power, Richard King reading from How Soon Is Now and Tim Burgess in conversation about his autobiography, Telling Stories

The superlative-warranting, San Fran group Girls are set to play their only UK show of 2012 in just over a week. Not got a ticket yet? Alas, not to fear as you too could be catching the band on 28 May at The Forum in London.

Girls will appear as a full eight piece band, including their wonderful R&B-style backing singers, in what will likely be their last UK appearance before another album release. Support will come from the brilliantly shoegazey Weird Dreams.
