It's a fist pump moment every time TĀLĀ drops a track, and it feels as if she's unloading her work on us more often than we deserve. After impressing earlier this month with "Black Scorpio" she now comes forth with "Alchemy", her most accessible track to date.
Where The Duchess EP was full of instrumental electronic numbers splashed with Middle Eastern tropes, "Black Scorpio" and now "Alchemy" allow the British/Iranian artist's vocals to take a more prominent role. "Oh baby I love you so" wriggles over hushed pulses and twinkly-eyed synths, and just as we begin to digest this slight RnB twist of creation, she launches her signature fat beats over intricate, exotic arrangements. It's a wonderful versatility we didn't know existed in TĀLĀ. Blimey, are we excited.
"Alchemy" is taken from the Alchemy EP released via Aesop on 17 November 2014.
