Pinkunoizu are a fascinating proposition. The Danish band, who split their time between Cophenhagen and Berlin, have extraordinarily broad reference points. Theirs is a sound constantly in flux, moving effortlessly but unexpectedly between krauty guitar passages, highlife inflected rhythmic ideas, and psychy improv sections.
‘The Abyss’ is all that and more, its Neu!-esque bass and thick, husky vocals eventually giving way to freak-out guitars. The track is taken from the band’s debut album Free Time!, out on Monday on Full Time Hobby.
