This one slipped out quietly. ‘Locked’ is a brand new Four Tet track, the latest release on his Text label (following the laughably difficult-to-get-hold-of Burial/Four Tet/Thom Yorke collab).
‘Locked’ is a strange beast. It begins as a synthesis of ’80s synth lines, Hebden’s trademark stuttering snares, and a distinctly Radiohead-esque chord progression, before entering a sort of purgatorial, bass-driven section about half way through. Oh yeah, and there are pan pipes.
‘Locked’ will appear on Four Tet’s hugely anticipated Fabriclive mix. It’s due out on 12″ next month.
