Zola Blood unveil pulsing electropop single "Pieces Of The Day" [Premiere]
Hackney quartet Zola Blood are sharing latest single "Pieces Of The Day" on Best Fit.
Recorded with Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Ghostpoet, Darkstar) in London and Leeds, the track focuses on an "evening spent on London’s number eight night bus."
The cut forms part of an upcoming AA-side release, which will also feature the already-aired "Play Out". This new offering is rammed with bubbling electronics, dark pulses that flicker like passing streetlights, and floaty cooed vox. The pedigree behind the desk can be heard, but don't let that diminish Zola Blood's own innate knack for a great tune - it's a more mature taste of their abilities than what we've already heard, and points to a band soaring along an intriguing path.
Speaking about the upcoming release, the band say: “We wanted every sound on the tracks to be totally unique - we even put the drums through a modular synth.”
The "Pieces Of The Day"/"Play Out" AA-side will follow last year's debut EP Meridian. The band's debut album is currently in progress, and you can pre-order it via Pledge Music now.
