Watch: Maiians - "Lemon" [Premiere]
Through one of the most striking video releases of the year, Maiians announce themselves as an immensely exciting new outfit on the electronic scene - as entertaining as they are impressive.
The Oxford-based five-piece mix intricate rhythms, heady bass lines and squealing, kaleidoscopic synth lines in a hypnotic recipe born out of a mutual love for the likes of Four Tet and Caribou. As a standalone track, "Lemon" demands attention. Add a painstakingly brilliant video and the band ensure they have the potential to cement themselves among the aforementioned giants of the genre.
Taking three months to make and including 34 different clips, the visuals capture the weird and wonderful world of YouTube to represent the sparkling elements of the track. It's an inspired piece of work featuring wonderfully obscure clips from the depths of the web perfectly synchronised into amusing and fantasically entertaining visuals.
