Listen: Hooray For Earth - "Racy" [UK Premiere]
Hooray For Earth began as the work of one man, but it’s the wall of sound created by crashing drums and spacy guitars—the product of a truly collaborative effort—that makes their latest something special.
It’s no surprise then, that “Racy” is a cacophony of contradictions. In conjunction with co-producer Chris Coady (Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Future Islands), bandleader and primary songwriter Noel Heroux crafts a sound that is at once epic and ethereal, apocalyptic and amiable—both dissonant and direct in equal turn. Imagine Explosions in the Sky taking a turn for the louder and the more structured at the same time, and you might get the idea.
“Racy” is something of a slow burn, but when it catches fire, it burns with an awfully big flame.
Hooray For Earth’s second full-length for Dovecote Records, Racy, is scheduled for release on 29 September.
