LA’s femme fatales Warpaint have released a song inspired by and named after jazz icon Billie Holiday.
Does it sound a bit familiar? No, you’re not going crazy. The world hasn’t completely fallen apart, despite recent horrific events. The track is a reworking of the original version that featured on the quartet’s debut EP Exquisite Corpse.
The new track will appear on the band’s deluxe edition of recent album The Fool, out 29 September and which will also come with rarities and remixes.
The single was produced by none other than John Frusciante (of ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers fame) and has been mixed by Steve Mackey (of recently-reformed Pulp notoriety).
Warpaint recently played London’s Field Day festival – check back for our review of which on Friday. The band will be playing Summer Sundae, the Reading and Leeds festivals, Edinburgh Queen’s Hall and Roisin Dubh in Ireland later this summer.
