What Spectrals share with tonight’s headliners Summer Camp is a defining streak of nostalgia – but if Spectrals hint toward the future of rock n roll, can we say the same for Jeremy Warmsley, Elizabeth Sankey and the future of pop?

Nice Nice – Extra Wow
With Extra Wow, Nice Nice have created an album that is not so much a collection of individual tracks as it is a singular piece of meditative electronic noise. It’s a splendid, if sometimes confusing achievement.

The Daredevil Christopher Wright – In Deference To A Broken Back
Even if it takes knowing that Justin Vernon is involved with the project in order for you to give it a listen, you will be confronted with an assured, sonically adventurous record that grows in depth and significance after each spin.

MGMT – Congratulations
MGMT have seen off the artistic challenges of their sophomore effort by refusing to do the same thing twice. The understated disparate charms of this album have replaced the bombast of its predecessor.

Blood Red Shoes – Fire Like This
The vaguely angular riffs and indie disco clipped hi-hats of yesteryear have largely been replaced with a greater mastery of dynamics. ‘Fire Like This’ is a subtly different beast.

Joshua Radin w/ Lissie – Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London 08/04/10
On paper, Joshua Radin is a little clichéd. In practice, however, he’s in an entirely different league. In fact, and entirely different game – So says Catriona Boyle.

TLOBF Interview // Summer Camp
Laura Snapes wangled a chat with Summer Camp about secret identities, the nebulous beast that is chillwave, and orchestrated a quick game of SC’s favourite game, Would You Rather…

Black Francis – NonStopErotik
As Pixies frontman, Frank Black unquestionably blazed a trail for weird, disorientating, troubling yet hugely listenable alt.rock and his on-off solo career has done nothing since then to discredit his legacy.

SOTD #45 // Gorillaz: ‘Superfast Jellyfish (Mighty Mouse Remix)’
Exclusive to The Line Of Best Fit, the beats are turned up and the jocular aspects of the track are celebrated and enhanced on this disco-laden mix.

Paul Weller – Wake Up The Nation
Will ‘Wake Up The Nation’ renew the faith of an disillusioned Weller fan of old? Although it’s admittedly a step in the right direction Mathew Parri Thomas is far from excited.

Doves – The Places Between: The Best Of Doves
For a band that has always been interested in crafting a tangible theme and mood with each release, a package like this can’t help but sound a bit random; packed with massive singles, but ultimately leaving the listener with no further insight into the bands lasting legacy.

Chin Chin – Sound of the Westway
In the current trend of lo-fi bedroom demos it’s sort of a fitting time to re-release a record Frankie Rose would probably give her tattooed left arm to record.

Retribution Gospel Choir – Cargo, London 15/03/10
Opening with the gloriously brutal ‘Breaker’, you have a slight inkling that it could be an evening of sheer intensity. That inkling would not be far off the mark.

Red Sparowes – The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies The Answer
Exploring slightly different territory to their previous albums, The Fear… sees Red Sparowes at their very best.

Korallreven announce “The Truest Faith”, listen now!
Following on from last July’s debut single “Loved-Up”, Korallreven return with their eagerly awaited new single: “The Truest Faith”. Released via Acéphale Records on limited edition vinyl – with the first 150 orders arriving in a custom maroon / white splatter sleeve.

SOTD #44 // Mountain Man: ‘Animal Tracks’
Comparisons to First Aid Kit and their shiver inducing close vocal harmonies will no doubt occur, but Mountain Man’s sound and inspiration seems to hark back to the very traditional beginnings of American folk music rather than the more contemporary folk stylings of their Swedish rivals.
