[Download] Oh! Canada 9

Welcome once again to TLOBF’s monthly Oh! Canada compilation, now reaching it’s 9th regular installment (not counting the Christmas special). In the coming months the Europe is facing something of a Canadian invasion, with tours from Oh! Canada faves Broken Social Scene, Timber Timbre, The Wilderness of Manitoba, Japandroids, The Pack AD, The Mountains and The Trees, Hawksley Workman, Cam Penner, Shout Out Out Out, No Kids, Zeus, Coeur De Pirate to mention just a few. To celebrate this fact (and to encourage you to go and support them) we’ve include songs from many of these artists on this addition. Any artist with (*) at the end of their song is either currently or about to tour the UK and/or Europe. Please click on the band name to view their full tour dates.

As ever, we also have great pleasure in introducing you to some new acts, including the all out power-pop goodness of Toronto’s Young Doctors In Love, a must for anyone with a penchant for fancy chords, shimmying tambourines and “lalala” choruses, a sneak peak from The Shiny Diamonds new record (which was produced by Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart) with the wonderfully titled “Portrait Of The Artist (Formerly Known As Prince) As A Young Man” and an ode to love and shoplifting from Parksville, BC natives The Plastic Chair Explosion, part of Vancouver’s Kingfisher Bluez collective (which also includes The Shiny Diamonds).

Huge thanks go out to all those who have made this compilation possible. Please show your support by clicking the links and finding out more about the bands-there are plenty of goodies hidden away if you look for them.

Until next time……..

Thanks for yet another killer OC comp, Ro and TLofBF. The Cam Penner and Apollo Ghosts tracks in particular are just great, but – wow! – the Plastic Chair Explosion and My Lovely Son offerings are the best tunes I’ve heard in an age. Outstanding.

Wow, My Lovely Son! I havent heard anything like this before, I checked out the myspace and listened to the other tracks, I am in complete awe. The poetry and delicacy of emotion is painted beautifully. Outstanding indeed! Thanks for making my afternoon!

I am pleased you liked it! we are going to write an entire concept album around crime in the name of love. The ending track is called “Unconstitutional Devotion” and it’s about squishing the freedom of the press to show your love for a person.

JUST KIDDING ! I love the press!! I would not do that.

Hope to hear more from you sometime somewhere on the internet (our website is always a good place to look, though you never know, we could get really distracted by our twitter. #plasticchair in case that happens)

    ho ho ho, merry April

Lefty- Indeed it is. I seem to have mislabeled. Consider it changed! And thanks everyone for the positive feedback. There is a lot of exciting news to come from Oh! Canada in the next two months, so it is great to have your support!
