Take Me ‘Round Again, is a new album from The Fiery Furnaces… but new in a, kinda OLD way. It collects Matt and Eleanor’s ‘cover versions’ of songs from their recent album I’m Going Away.

The band have been reworking, rearranging, and rewriting their songs live since they first started touring in 2003. Now they have taken this a step further, as Matt and Eleanor has each re-recorded six songs to make a whole new album.

Take Me Round Again was recorded separately by Matt and Eleanor this past July in Michigan and New York. All that remains the same on these 12 ‘covers’ are the words. This release will be available exclusively as a digital download from iTunes.

You can download one of the tracks, for free, here.

Here’s what the Furnaces had to say about Take Me Round Again:

Matthew: “After asking people to send us their re-write of I’m Going Away before having heard it, I thought we owed it to them to make an actual alternate version of the record. And not just leave all the new arranging for live shows.”

Eleanor: “I’ve gotten into the habit of rewriting songs Matt has written, just as a way of practicing and singing at home. Originally, I had wanted to record a folk-style record called ‘Eleanor Friedberger sings the songs of the Fiery Furnaces’. I thought it would make a nice greatest hits record, but reworking I’m Going Away before it even came out seemed a lot more exciting.”
