Oh! Canada is saddened to report the tragic death of Toronto singer/songwriter Taylor Mitchell yesterday. Mitchell was in the middle of an East Coast tour when she was attacked by coyotes while walking in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
Taylor’s debut album For Your Consideration saw her joined by a backing band including Justin Rutledge, and has gained considerable acclaim. She was recently nominated for the “Young Performer of the Year” award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
TLOBF and Oh! Canada would like to extend our condolences to Taylor’s friends and family.

Tragic…
No other word for it but, if it is any comfort, Taylor will not be forgotten; remembering through time, and beyond the lifetime of any of us, is the key tenet of folk music.
