Thrill Jockey get busy – sign Mi Ami & Jack Rose

miami

Mi Ami have signed to Thrill Jockey Records. Formed in August of 2007, the San Francisco trio of Jacob Long (bass), Daniel Martin-McCormick (vocals/guitar) and Damon Palermo (drums) have already issued a handful of limited 12″ records as well as their first full-length Watersports and the ‘Echononecho’ single on Quarterstick/Touch & Go in early 2009. They also put on a pretty incendiary live show.

Their Thrill Jockey debut is taking the form of a brand new 12″ called ‘Cut Men’ and features two new tracks. Recorded at Lucky Cat Studios (where they also did Watersports) with Trans Am’s Phil Manley, both songs were tracked in a single day and mixed the next.

Not only have they signed those fella’s, but they’ve signed up Jack Rose, who will be releasing his 10th album entitled Luck in the Valley early next year. Rose is known mainly for his work in the early 90′s with the drone/improv/folk unit, Pelt.

For Luck in the Valley the LP was composed and recorded in the style of the classic three-track shack recordings by the Wray Brothers and Mordicai Jones. This will be the third album in this set of recordings that Rose jokingly refers to as his ‘Ditch Trilogy’.
