After a long, long Summer break TLOBF’s clubnight (run in association with our friends over at Something In Construction Records) is back! And what’s more, we’re back for good. Oh yes. Once a spasm, now, a regular heartbeat. ILL FIT has come to life for real.
On October 12th, we’re hosting our final show at Old Blue Last in London’s East End. Guests for the night include The Rest, who will be bringing their epic songs from Canada for a week of shows in the capital. ILL FIT will be the first UK show these guys will have ever played, and judging by the amount of blog love these pups are getting at the moment, it’s going to be a rather memorable experience to say the least. We also have cult French singer-songwriter Sebastien Schuller performing a set of his majestic Thom Yorke/Nick Drake-esque songs. Rounding off this fine line up is the sublime angelic folk music of NME tipped, Neon Neon singer, Cate Le Bon, who has just been signed to Gruff Rhys’ (Super Furry Animals) label ‘Irony Bored Records’. Of course there will be the usual DJ shenanigans from the super skilled ILL FIT DJs. As usual, entry is 100% free and there will be free shots and free CD’s and other gubbins available all night.

Our second event in October is ILL FIT’s debut event at The Social - the wonderful Heavenly Records club located in the heart of London’s West End (just off Oxford Street). We are super excited to have been given a monthly residency at one of the finest clubs in the City and to kick things off we have a line up to end all line ups (well, we think so anyway).
October 20th will see XL Recording’s newest signing Holly Miranda showcase her magnificent Sleep On Fire EP (which you can listen to in full below). Support comes from the equally brilliant lo-fi pop outfit Curly Hair who will be making waves very soon with their excellent debut Ivy League EP (out September 28th). Our friend Banjo Or Freakout will be behind the decks, as well as the usual ILL FIT DJs. If this wasn’t reason enough to come along (did we mention it was FREE entry??!!) we have also confirmed a super top secret special guest that we aren’t allowed to tell you about. But needless to say, they are one of our favourite bands who have seen much love on TLOBF over the past 12 months.
