While the Polaris prize goes to the critics choice of best Canadian artist, last night was the turn of the Verge XM awards, which is voted for by listeners to the satellite radio station. The channel has a mandate to support Canadian talent, and this is the second year it has been awarded. We are delighted to announce that despite stiff competition from Alexisonfire, Amos The Transparent and fellow Oh! Canada faves Said The Whale and Joel Plaskett, Dan Mangan walked away from the Mod Club in Toronto a happier, and richer, man. While Mangan took home the prize for Artist of the Year, Alexisonfire did not go home empty handed, picking up Album of the Year for Old Crows/ Young Cardinals.
